Nutrition practice

A diet plan is a structure,
not a PDF you retype every month.

Plan, day, meal, item. Every item carries its own protein, fat, carbohydrate, fibre and calories, and every item can carry an alternate for the client who does not eat that. Change the item, the day’s totals move. That is the whole idea, and everything below is a consequence of it.

01 / The food list

It is your list. We do not ship one.

Other software advertises a food database with a number attached to it — twelve thousand items, fifteen thousand items. This page used to say twelve and a half thousand. There is no such list in this product and there never was: the food table belongs to your account, and it starts empty.

That sounds like a downside until you have used one of the big catalogues on Indian food. You upload a spreadsheet of the items you actually prescribe — the CSV import is one screen — and from then on the list says poha the way you portion poha, not the way an American database portions rice flakes. Items can be added as you go, by you or by a trainer on your team, and each one can be marked vegetarian, marked cooked or raw, marked as a recipe, and given a preparation time, a photograph and a method.

If a client asks where the calorie numbers come from, the app tells them: the Indian Food Composition Table from the National Institute of Nutrition and the USDA database, cited on our reference data page. Your own imported rows are yours, and are marked as such.

Import format. A CSV, and only a CSV — the importer refuses anything else rather than half-reading a spreadsheet. If you have your list in Excel, save a copy as CSV. If you have it on paper, the first fifty items take an afternoon and you will never do it again.

02 / How a plan is put together

Four levels, and one of them is the useful one

The fourth row is the reason this is worth doing at all. An alternate hangs off the item, not off the plan, so “or two egg whites” is part of the plan rather than a note at the bottom that nobody reads.

The four levels of a diet plan, and what you set at each.
Level What you set Why it is at this level
Plan Name, goal, level, number of days, notes, and whether it is a template your trainers can reuse or private to you. So one plan can be a seven-day rotation or a ninety-day block without becoming ninety separate plans.
Day A name, a position in the sequence, and notes for that day. Training days and rest days are different. So are the two days a week somebody eats out.
Meal Meal name, the time it is meant to happen, notes, and whether the client sees this meal in their app at all. Timing is half of a diet plan and the last field lets you stage a plan without showing the client all of it at once.
Item The food, the quantity, and its macros. Plus an alternate item, which is a full food row of its own. Because the plan that gets followed is the one that survives the client not having paneer in the house.

When you assign a plan to a client they receive their own copy of it, days and meals and items included. Editing the template afterwards does not silently rewrite what somebody is in the middle of following. Plans export to PDF for clients who want one on paper, and a plan can be scheduled to start on a date rather than assigned immediately.

03 / What comes back

The half of consulting that usually disappears

You wrote the plan. Between this consultation and the next one, this is what the software can tell you actually happened.

  1. The client logs the meal, against the meal you prescribed

Not a free-text food diary that you then have to interpret. The log line points at the item in the plan, so “followed” and “substituted” and “skipped” are different things rather than an absence.

  2. With a photograph of the plate, if you ask for one

The log carries an image and a description written by the client. It is the single most useful field in the whole module and it is the one nobody expects: portion size is where self-reporting fails, and a photograph settles it in two seconds.

  3. Their day totals against the target you set

A diet target holds protein, fat, carbohydrate, fibre and calories, plus current weight, target weight and a weekly rate. The day’s logged intake is summed against it.

  4. Measurements, with front, back and side photographs

Taken by you at a review or by the client at home, dated, and comparable across the series. Weight-loss and progress analysis reads off the same records rather than a separate spreadsheet.

  5. And a follow-up on the calendar, not in your head

Over thirty follow-up types with a date, an owner and an outcome. The measurement review, the package renewal at 45, 7 and 3 days out, and the balance still owed all schedule themselves.

04 / The arithmetic

What it calculates, and what it leaves to you

Basal metabolic rate is computed with Mifflin–St Jeor, from weight in kilograms, height in centimetres, age and sex. Body mass index is computed from height and weight. Both are stored on the client’s record and both are visible in the app.

Total daily energy expenditure is not computed. An activity level is recorded against the client, but nothing multiplies the basal rate by it, so the number you would want is not produced. You set the calorie target yourself.

We would rather write that sentence than print a figure with an activity multiplier picked out of the air, which is what the number would be. The same reasoning runs through the rest of the product — the payroll module refuses to compute income tax for exactly this reason, and says so on its own page.

There are no live video consultations. No Zoom, no Meet, no built-in calling — the old version of this page advertised them and the endpoint behind that button has always returned an empty success. Appointments can be booked, dated, assigned to you and marked attended or no-show; the call itself happens wherever you hold it now.
There is no auto-debit and no EMI. Card and UPI through Razorpay or Stripe, and cash, cheque, bank transfer and the rest recorded offline, with a real GST invoice at the end of it. What there is not is a standing mandate that collects a monthly fee on its own.

05 / What you are buying

Two products, one of which you may never need

A one-person practice buys the first. A clinic with dietitians on payroll eventually asks about the second.

The practice

Ultimate CRM

Clients and enquiries, packages and GST invoices, the diet and workout plan builders, measurements, the client app, the follow-up scheduler, WhatsApp reminders from your own number, and around forty reports. Live since December 2023; 305 centres and 420,624 member records sit on it today.

The clinic

Ultimate HRMS

Staff records, shifts and roster, an append-only leave ledger, five kinds of employment letter, document storage that sits outside the web root with every download permission-checked, and payroll ending in a PDF payslip. New, opt-in, and candid about its gaps — no income tax computation, by design.
